About Soul Bound

You are... wait, you don't remember? What happened? Where am I? Who am I? These are all questions that you have from the very beginning, but don't have any answers to... at least not yet. All you know is that you're a person from the Kingdom of Khalyra with no memory of your past life and somehow accidentally found yourself in the In-Between, a secret world between life and death itself. With the help of Soul Bound, Celeste, the guardian of this strange world who’s responsible for guiding spirits from the living to the spirit realm, you are granted the ability to Spirit Transfer: possessing people in the real world to overcome obstacles and interact with your surroundings in ways that aren't possible as a spirit. You are tasked to go on a journey back to your home world with the goal of collecting 4 key artifacts that the Soul Bound can use to fix this catastrophic mistake. You think you’re helping the right cause in stopping the In-Between’s imbalance with your presence, but are you really? Not everything is so simple, sometimes an exchange of power for freedom is the only option.

About the Demo and Plans for Development

This short demo is meant to showcase a vertical slice of the game's core Spirit Transfer mechanic as well as the world's environment, atmosphere/tone, key characters and possible interactions. After some playtesting and feedback for the contents of this demo, I plan to continue expanding Soul Bound into a fully playable RPG with a rich story told through the collection of memories and dialogue between a diverse cast of characters as well as interesting puzzles making use of the Spirit Transfer mechanic to see the world through the perspectives of both the real and spirit realms. The Spirit Transfer mechanic is still a work in progress, however, I plan to add some sort of timer and health bar that will be affected if you stay in the real world state for too long in order to increase the game's difficulty and require players to approach obstacles more strategically.
